This lecture provides a comprehensive introduction to the principles and practices of Integrated Circuit (IC) design and fabrication. Students will explore the entire IC design flow, including system design, digital and analog design, verification, and layout implementation. Core topics include fabrication technology, physical realization of ICs, and the critical role of Process Design Kits (PDKs) and compact modeling in ensuring manufacturability. The lecture also delves into IC design tools like SPICE and Verilog, post-fabrication testing, packaging, and validation. Additionally, students will gain insights into industry trends, emerging challenges, and the evolving landscape of IC technologies, equipping them with the knowledge to navigate this dynamic field.
