Electrification is key to achieving climate neutrality by advancing competitiveness, energy efficiency andresilience. This session will explore how industries can adapt to variable RES production, transforming inflexiblebaseload demands into flexible systems aligned with the Clean Industrial Deal. The discussion will focus on integrating RES, DC technologies, and microgrids to enhance efficiency and meet growing electricity demands across industries, buildings, and mobility. Key questions include how industrial processes can adapt to RES while maintaining competitiveness, what business models and investments support demand-supplyflexibility, how DC and microgrids drive decarbonization, and the role of regional and local energy systemintegration. The session aim at exploring challenges and opportunities related to grid flexibility and variable RES integration in industrial operations; identifying the challenges and opportunities posed by high shares ofvariable renewable energy (RES) in meeting the rising electricity demand and enhancing grid flexibility;identifying research and innovation priorities for decarbonising energy systems and enhancing systemresilience and fostering stakeholder collaboration to develop tailored solutions for industrial clusters and localenergy systems. The target audience includes industry leaders, energy managers, EU and nationalpolicymakers, researchers, technology providers, SET Plan and IWG representatives, and civil societyorganizations involved in energy transition and climate action.
