Beschreibung

Natural or man-made biological threats can create an urgent need for safe handling of large number of infected victims. However, most hospitals routinely operate at or near full capacity and have limited abilitiy for mass casualty responses. In order to prevent the spread of infection to the health care workers and other persons safe handling procedures are needed during transportation, treatment and care of the victims. As a part of the IMPACT project the precautions to control the infection transmission are reviewed. Especially, the various possibilities for safe emergency transport and rapidly deployable solutions for large-scale isolation are studied.
