Abstract
The study compares characteristic load effects calculated from vehicle loads measured in Hungary with the traffic load model of the Eurocodes. Based on data from a representative weigh station and the five most common vehicle types, calculations performed following the German approach show that the load model is conservative in all examined cases. However, the results also reveal that the Hungarian vehicle weight distribution differs from the German one, suggesting that using an alternative distribution instead of the normal distribution would be more appropriate for approximation.
