Abstract
High-strength AlSi1MgMn alloys are currently hardly used for additive manufacturing or as welding feedstock material because of their high hot-cracking susceptibility. In this work alloy tailoring towards use for waDED processes is presented. The goal was to modify AlSi1MgMn alloys within its specifications while simultaneously improving the build-up strategy. Specimens were characterized by means of optical light and scanning electron microscopy alongside mechanical characterization by hardness and tensile testing. The provided data showed promising results regarding the use of AlSi1MgMn by waDED methods.
