Abstract
PREFACE
As Europe stands at the intersection of multiple transforma-
tions— geopolitical, ecological, digital, and societal—the
need for inclusive, anticipatory, and imaginative thinking
has never been more urgent. The Futures4Europe con-
ference, held in Vienna on May 15–16, 2025, brought
together a vibrant constellation of foresight practitioners,
researchers, policymakers, artists, and citizens from across
the continent and beyond to engage in exactly that: shap-
ing Europe’s future through the lens of collective intelli-
gence and forward-looking policy design.
This conference is a key milestone in the Eye of Europe
project—an EU-funded Coordination and Support Ac-
tion dedicated to strengthening the European foresight
ecosystem. While particularly focused on research and
innovation, the initiative embraces a broad and inclusive
approach to futures thinking. One of its central pillars is
the development of futures4europe.eu, an online hub for
the foresight community. The platform serves as a collab-
orative space where members share events, projects, and
insights, fostering transparency, dialogue, and continuity.
