Abstract
The paper presents a method for the crack damage identification in beam-like structures. The method identifies the damage from analyses of the structural response to random vibration in time domain. The analyses of the dynamic response of the beam are used to calculate three parameters defined from a parametric expression of Gaussian Probability Density Function (PDF). The values of these parameters are estimated by solving an optimization problem. The validation of the method is carried out through an application of the method to a FEM.
