Abstract

Our research is centered around a model-based approach to generate optimal and feasible viewpoints (OFVPs) for inspecting 3D objects. Our planning process considers the 3D mesh model of the object, the sensor model used for data acquisition, and the kinematic constraints of the automated platform. This has the primary objective of producing high-quality and complete data while minimizing inspection time and ensuring feasibility. One significant benefit of our method is that it provides optimized inspection planning for real-world scenarios without requiring post-adaptation, thereby saving time and resources.
