    Abstract

Intelligent, efficient power electronics and control are a key factor for sustainable, resilient energy generation, transmission, application and control. To keep development, manufacturing and application in Europe is an important factor towards European sovereignty in the energy, mobility and industry sector.
PowerizeD is one of the key projects funded by the European Commission towards achievement of these goals. PowerizeD will address aspects for power electronics from materials to systems across application area boundaries, to cover the following European domains semiconductor industry, traction industry (rail), automotive, industrial drives, and the electric energy industry, including charger systems, batteries, inverters
and converters, and also lightning and home systems.
PowerizeD targets with the implementation of intelligence for novel products at the following achievements:
    • “Green energy”: loss reduction by increasing the efficiency of power devices
    • Sustainable Operation for increased lifetime
    • Robust and Safe Operation by intelligent device control
    • Reduction of required Chip Size, functional integration
    • Reduced Design Time for power electronic control systems.
“Intelligence” means to apply algorithms, standards and the “federated learning” approach to protect the individual suppliers’ IPRs throughout the supply chains without revealing sensitive data, while being able to optimize and stay flexible.
Cross-Domain Topics cover reliability, modelling, digital twins, SW and HW-related sensing, control and tools, novel materials, measurement equipment, EMC prediction, sustainability
issues and standardization in these areas of interest.
