Abstract
In the last decade the usage of nanoparticles (NP) in industrial and medical applications has enormously increased. As humans are
exposed to engineered NP there is an urgent need for rapid and reliable screening procedures to identify the hazardous potential of
nanomaterials. A label‐free, non‐invasive measurement system based on contactless electric cell‐substrate impedance spectroscopy
(cECIS) has been developed and applied to study cellular activity in the absence and presence of low NP doses. In the presented work we
demonstrate the ability of the in‐house built measurement system to detect toxic impacts of silver NP concentrations on primary human
cells under cell culture conditions.
