Abstract

The present work describes the methodology used for the development of energy storage system for advanced electric power-train. The focus will be on lithium ion battery technology. For ensuring the harmless of the energy storage system a safety concept should be already present in the early phases of the development. The present work shows the safety analysis method used during the development of HEV and EV vehicles within arsenal research. Particular attention is given to the short circuit abuse condition and their relative test methods during the development phase.
