Abstract
Power system network topology reconfiguration can reduce the cost of relieving network congestion. In
this work, N-1 Security-Constrained Optimal Power Flow that utilizes substation reconfiguration and busbar
splitting is introduced. A column-and-constraint generation decomposition technique is proposed to accelerate the solution process. The proposed models are tested on 5-bus, 39-bus, and 118-bus systems. Results show that post-contingency busbar splitting is not only useful in reducing the operating cost, but it can be crucial to improving system security.
