Abstract
This study examined predictors of caregiver burden and efficacy in dementia care using baseline data from a caregiving cohort. Regression analyses showed that caregiver burden was more strongly associated with caregiver well-being than with the functional independence of the person with dementia. Caregiving efficacy was positively related to well-being and negatively to burden, indicating psychological and social factors play a greater role than physical functioning. Service use, social support, and caregiving frequency further explained variations, underscoring the need for multi-dimensional support interventions.
