Abstract
The PERCEPTIONS research project, funded under the Europe-an Commission’s H2020 programme, set out to achieve three main objectives in its three-and-a-half-year runtime: (i) to iden-tify and understand the role of narratives, images and percep-tions of Europe held by migrants and persons intending to mi-grate; (ii) to investigate how different narratives could lead to problems due to a mismatch of expectations and reality, partic-ularly for (aspiring) migrants, but also for host countries; and (iii) to create practical and hands-on measures – including a web platform, creative materials, and a handbook – to support practitioners working with migrants. In this chapter, I give an overview of the various activities and tasks of the project, the involved partners, and the key outcomes and results, address-ing their interrelatedness. It will provide context to the specific insights presented in the chapters of this book and link the vari-ous results of the project.
