Tracing Research Paths of Scientists by means of Citations

Abstract

This contribution presents an approach for tracing research paths of scientists based on their profile of cited references. The results could be applied for analysing the development of single or groups of scientists in their own area or into a new field. This might be interesting for evaluation for research grants or also for investigation of transdisciplinary research centres. Our approach utilises the cosine powerfully and provides clear results.
