Abstract

The radio communication aspects of TROLL satellite mission, which is currently the largest Czech 6U CubeSat sized commercial satellite, are described. The operation of the satellite in S-band frequency range enables a higher data throughput from the hyperspectral camera payload what makes a significant difference from previous non-commercial Czech satellite missions. The link budget aspects, coverage analyses, and telemetry are elaborated and performed in Ansys STK and HFSS. Further, current trends in satellite communication of CubeSats and ground stations are discussed.
