Abstract

The objective of the project WOLKE (Weather-sensitive calibration of traffic models for optimised traffic control) is to investigate weather impact on models of motorized individual traffic. An innovative modelling approach comprising macroscopic and microscopic traffic levels aims at harmonising modelling of weather impact while utilising different key values on each level. The scope of investigations targets motorway and urban road networks and focuses on the southern part of the Bavarian motorway network in Germany as well as the road network of the Austrian capital Vienna. By using detailed weather and traffic data from these two test areas, the project is developing macroscopic and microscopic traffic models with improved accuracy for adverse weather conditions.
