Round Table 3 "DC- and hybrid AC/DC networks" at Session 1

AIT plans to develop a MVDC backbone for demonstration and testing at their site in Seibersdorf/Lower Austria; Existing infrastructure can be repurposed (extensive duct system) for utilizing energy infrastructure and cables. The goal for the first phase of a infrastructure development project is to connect external energy sources (Wind park, Solar park) in the vicinity to local loads (heat pumps, charging stations) via DC. Further development phases then build on that backbone. The second phase will include a solid-oxide-fuel-cell for hydrogen generation and management, and excess-heat utilization. Later phases should open up the platform for research and development partners to couple their own demonstrator projects.
