Exploring quantum methods for photometric stereo

Activity: Talk or presentation / LecturePresentation at a scientific conference / workshop

Description

This work examines the potential of quantum computing for computer vision (CV) using as example the photometric stereo (PS) algorithm. We analyze the time complexity of PS in a quantum algorithm and compare it to classical computing complexity. Additional to the classic PS algorithm, based on known light directions, we explore SDPS-Net for uncalibrated photometric stereo and it’s potential when run on quantum hardware. For both approaches the hardware requirements of a quantum computation are given and steps before and after the result computation taken into account to draw conclusions on current practical applicability.
