GIScience for Dynamic Transportation Systems

Activity: Talk or presentation / LecturePresentation at a scientific conference / workshop

Description

Transport research is an interdisciplinary field with a multitude of research topics that overlap with GIScience since movement, by its very nature, happens in space and time across multiple scales and within different context. Applications range from monitoring, understanding, and guiding local movement, to city-wide and global movement analysis and optimization. GIScience provides a strong foundation for understanding spatial aspects as well as the context of movement but the dynamic nature of movement data is a challenge for many established GI approaches. This talk provides an overview of recent GIScience topics at the AIT Dynamic Transportation Systems group, open research questions and challenges.
