Towards Transformative and Agile STI Policy: New Challenges and Practices

The transformative turn in government policy has raised new requirements for governments and public administration in the field of STI policy and beyond. Transformative and mission-oriented STI policy not only requires new policy concepts, but also new capabilities and organisational practices, from strategic priority-setting down to the implementation of policy instruments. Drawing on experiences in Germany and Austria, but also from other European countries, new conceptual lenses as well as practical insights will be presented, drawing on recent attempts to make government and public administration more agile and better equipped to cope with the transformations ahead.
