Personal profile

Research interests

I work as a scientist at the Austrian institute of Technology (AIT) in Vienna, Austria. I am part of the research group integrated digital urban planning (IDUP) in the competence unit digital, resilient cities (DRC) in the center for energy.
As a mathematician and statistician working in the transport and urban planning community, my research focuses on modelling transport behaviour.  Here I concentrate on the statistical analysis of mobility data with a focus on choice modelling and demand modelling in the area of mobility.  I am also working on in general traffic modelling, demand modelling, mobility simulations stated choice survey development and similar questions. Recently my work also extends into climate mitigationa and adaptation behaviour and the segmentation of the population in behaviourally homogeneous groups.
In the autumn of 2012 and again in 2013 I spent time as a visiting researcher with Marta Gonzalez at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at MIT. There my research focused on the extraction of mobility behavior from mobile phone data.
