Demet Suna

Dipl.-Ing. Dr. Demet Suna studied Electrical Engineering with a focus on Energy Technology at Yildiz Technical University (Istanbul) as well as at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien). In September 2013, she earned her doctorate (Dr. techn.) in Energy Economics at TU Wien.

Since April 2016, she has been working as a scientist at the AIT Austrian Institute of Technology, Center for Energy, with a focus on energy economics, integrated energy systems, decarbonization of energy systems, analysis of flexibility needs, security of supply, and the coupling of energy system and climate models. Since 2021, she has increasingly specialized in the topic of the impacts of climate change on energy systems.

Previously, she worked for more than seven years as a research associate at the Energy Economics Group (EEG) at the Institute of Energy Systems and Electrical Drives at TU Wien. Through her scientific work, she acquired solid professional and methodological skills in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency. She gained valuable insights into the Austrian and international energy sectors as well as into energy policy processes and frameworks at both the national and EU levels.

From July 2013 to March 2014, she worked as a Senior Consultant in renewable energy at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
