Research interests

Demet Suna (PhD) studied Electrical Engineering with a focus on Energy Technology at Yildiz Technical University (Istanbul) and at the Vienna University of Technology (TU Wien). In September 2013, she received her PhD (Dr. techn.) in Energy Economics from TU Wien.

Since April 2016, she has been working as Scientist at the AIT, Austrian Institute of Technology, Center for Energy, with a focus on energy economics, integrated energy systems, decarbonization of energy systems, analysis of flexibility needs, security of supply, and the coupling of energy system models and climate models.

Previously, she worked for more than seven years as a research associate at the Energy Economics Group (EEG) at the Institute of Energy Systems and Electrical Drives at TU Wien. In the course of her academic work, she acquired in-depth technical and methodological expertise in the fields of renewable energy and energy efficiency. In addition, she gained valuable insights into the Austrian and international energy sectors, as well as into energy policy processes and frameworks at both the national and EU levels.

From July 2013 to March 2014, she also worked as a Senior Consultant in the field of renewable energy at the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
