Abstract
This paper investigates Bluetooth Low Energy signal reception in indoor environments through a comprehensive analysis of gateway and beacon interactions. The study explores the impact of factors such as receiver placement, beacon positioning on the human body, and the number of gateways on BLE signal strength and indoor localization accuracy. Key findings highlight the complexity introduced by body effects and emphasize the importance of considering both wall and ceiling receiver configurations. The paper introduces a Radial Basis Function-based localization methodology and presents a combined gateway setup, incorporating both ceiling-mounted and wall-mounted gateways, demonstrating improved robustness and accuracy across various body positions. The research contributes insights for the deployment of Bluetooth Low Energy based systems in indoor environments. The dataset consists of 2700 data points gathered from 10 receivers and 5 beacons in an indoor setting, offering a resource for researchers in the BLE-based indoor localization field. The dataset is shared for additional analysis and experimentation, aiming to encourage collaboration and progress in the domain of indoor positioning technologies.
