Abstract

The EARPA FORM (Future of Road Mobility) Forum is the central biennial conference of the European Automotive Research Partners Association, bringing together Europe’s leading automotive research organisations, industry representatives, and policymakers. Held in Brussels, the event serves as a platform for presenting technological innovations, discussing research priorities, and exploring the future direction of mobility within the European R&D landscape. We are pleased to present this booklet containing the collection of papers submitted to the EARPA Form Forum 2025. As the mobility landscape undergoes profound transformation—driven by decarbonisation, digitalisation, automation, and the pursuit of resilient and sustainable mobility solutions—EARPA members remain committed to advancing knowledge, fostering collaboration, and accelerating innovation.
Rapid transformation of mobility, energy systems, and digital infrastructures is reshaping every facet of transport engineering. The contributions in this book bring together a diverse collection of research efforts that reflect this evolution— spanning circularity in electric drivetrains, advanced simulation methodologies, lifecycle-oriented digital platforms, and new models for sustainable transport.
Several contributions explore breakthroughs in electric vehicle technologies, from closing the loop on circular e-drive components to understanding how emerging 2ZERO innovations can reduce energy consumption. Others address the growing importance of digitalisation and lifecycle intelligence, offering platforms capable of monitoring electric traction motors from production to end-of-life and evaluating smartphone-based pedestrian-to-infrastructure communication.
A second group of papers turns toward systemic challenges, including trusted greenhouse-gas accounting for renewable fuels and enhanced methods for air-quality decision support. Finally, innovative modelling approaches—such as dynamic mobility simulations for shared autonomous vehicles and finite-state algorithms for optimal speed advisory in public transport—highlight the increasingly interdisci-plinary nature of modern mobility research.
Collectively, these articles offer a forward-looking perspective on the technolo-gies, tools, and frameworks needed to enable a cleaner, smarter, and more resilient transport future. They illustrate not only the complexity of the mobility transition but also the ingenuity and collaborative spirit driving it forward.
We extend our sincere appreciation to all authors, reviewers, and contributors for their commitment and high-quality work. We also thank the EARPA community and our event partners for their continuous engagement and support. We hope this booklet serves as a source of inspiration, knowledge exchange, and productive dialogue— both during the FORM Forum and beyond.
