Abstract

Heating and cooling systems typically spend most of their operation time in part load. Predicting the number of hours within specific part load ratios may be helpful for the planning of well-performing systems and controls. This contribution proposes a simulation-based investigation of part load ratios as a basis for the development of simplified estimation procedures. Dynamic building simulations were carried out with multiple parameter variations, and their results analysed with a focus on the distribution of part load ratios. The possibility of estimating the number of hours in given ranges of part load ratios with simple formulas was investigated.
