Abstract

The research project HEATROCK, a collaborationof specialised Austrian companies and research institutions, works on the development of seasonal thermal energy storage solutions for dense urban areas where district heating systems are present, in order to promote their decarbonization and climate neutrality. This study investigates the technical, environmental and economic aspects of seasonal storage in caverns in crystalline rocks.
