High temperature heat pumps for industry: Demonstration experience

Research output: Chapter in Book or Conference ProceedingsConference Proceedings with Oral Presentationpeer-review

Abstract

Industrial heat pumps recover low temperature waste heat and provide valuable process heat. Heat pumps supplying temperatures above 100 °C have significantly broadened the field of application in industry. Rapid diffusion of the technology is expected to lower the dependency on natural gas and to decarbonise industrial production. High temperature heat pumps are now on the verge of commercialisation and are being demonstrated in industrial environment. This contribution provides an overview on AIT’s heat pump demonstration projects including heat pumps for drying and for steam generation.
