Summary
In this paper, the crash simulation of a space frame structure applied for a L7e [1] vehicle is discussed. The simulation was part of a publicly sponsored project of several partners located in Austria. The vehicle is designed with standard aluminium profiles, extruded magnesium profiles, aluminium sheet metal and casted joints made from aluminium and magnesium. To verify the crashworthiness with respect to a frontal impact, the frontal impact according to Euro NCAP [2] was simulated with LS-DYNA [3].
