Abstract
InFraReD is an intelligent framework for resilient design, developed by the City Intelligence Lab of the Austrian Institute of Technology, which aims to address the challenge by employing state-of-the-art artificial intelligence methods and large simulation datasets to enable fast, almost real-time environmental performance feedback in an open and accessible way. InFraReD uses machine learning and specifically deep learning models that have been trained with large datasets of typically useful environmental performance simulations, namely solar radiation, sunlight hours and computational fluid dynamics. InFraReD, as its name suggests, is not envisioned as software or a tool but as a design and simulation framework that can be openly integrated and adapted to existing design systems and other computational frameworks. Further to the environmental metrics, key performance analyses - such as spatial metrics, noise propagation, accessibility to transport and infrastructure or pedestrian dynamics - are all integrated in InFraReD's ecosystem, allowing its users to explore vast solution spaces of diverse objectives.
