Silicon-Germanium Light Sources for Commodity-Scale Quantum Key Distribution

Abstract

We investigate the opto-electronic characteristics of two different Silicon-Germanium light emitters native to silicon and demonstrate their monolithic co-integration with a polarization state encoder for quantum key distribution, generating secure encryption keys for an optical link budget of up to 10.8 dB.
