Standardization – Cross-Domain Synergies through Research

Research output: Chapter in Book or Conference ProceedingsConference Proceedings with Poster Presentation

    Abstract

Standardization is a key factor to achieve a fair and competitive economy and serve the interest of the citizens.
The European Commission is aware of this fact and promotes standardization activities particularly of their large, industry driven research projects (Horizon Europe, Chips-JU).
This should support better international exploitation of results of our research work. By collaboration between these projects, strong synergies can be achieved, as is demonstrated
    in:
    • AI4CSM (Automotive Intelligence for Connected Shared Mobility)
    • AIMS5.0 (Artificial Intelligence in Manufacturing leading to Sustainability and Industry5.0)
    • A-IQ Ready (Artificial Intelligence using Quantum measured Information for real time distributed systems at the edge)
    • PowerizeD (Digitalized and Intelligent Power Electronics for Sustainable and Resilient Energy Applications).
Standardization is one of the important means to achieve Europe’s high-level goals of Sustainability, Resilience & Digital Sovereignty of European economy and society. This covers also ethical & human centred aspects, quality, safety, security, dependability and environmental aspects. Standards are basis for European Directives & Regulations. A joint methodology was developed, covering:
    • A Holistic approach to meet major standardization challenges of the WPs & Use Cases,
    • Looking for „Windows of Opportunity“– (standards under development or maintenance),
    • Raising awareness for existing/evolving standards – i.e., facilitating future-proof developments,
    • Motivating active involvement in standardization
