Abstract

Starting from the vision of positioning Austria as a recognized model region for sustainable plastics solutions and the circular economy, the Upper Austrian location agency Upper Austria's location agency Business Upper Austria, together with the Federal Ministry for Climate Protection, Environment, Energy, Mobility, Innovation and Technology a structured process, on how this vision can be achieved. The goal was to create a technology roadmap with a time horizon of 2030, which would include concrete key topics and options for action.
Four workshops on the topic of "Sustainable Plastics Solutions" were held from July to September 2021. The 100 or so participants came from companies throughout the value chain and worked separately in three sector-specific workshops.
They worked separately in three sector-specific groups: plastics processing companies, companies from the food sector and companies from the waste sector.
Based on the results of the first three workshops three central issues were identified:
